Although this was not the first publication design project I’d worked on, it was arguably the most fun in 2024. I really enjoy the process of taking a simple word document and turning it into something that can be easily read and digested!
When I receive a project like this, my process typically begins with me laying the text out on InDesign, leaving space for potential illustrations which are marked by text boxes that describe what I plan to illustrate in that area. Once this draft is approved by project managers, I start sketching. This black and white second draft with the visuals is arguably the most important part, as it facilitates communication about what should be included, and what needs to be changed to visually convey the desired messages. After that draft is approved, I colour in the visuals and adjust the layout while making any necessary edits. And voila!
I have obtained permission from Legal Dignity to showcase my work in a way that doesn’t compromise the confidential nature of the report. I’m glad to include this work in my portfolio, because I am quite proud of it!
