The final product of a conceptual poster assignment. It is meant to symbolise the mental and emotional toll that achieving excellent grades can often take on a teenage student. Nowadays, especially in Asia, parents and teachers can be overwhelmingly insistent on reaping incredibly high marks no matter the sacrifices and negative implications it can have on the young adult. Having experienced first-hand being picked on by teachers for not being “smart” in science subjects (which were marketed as the only subjects that matter) and second-hand watching close friends crumble under the impossible expectations of their parents, I was very personally motivated to create this piece that I hope raises awareness.
